- Simply take the cap off the lighter and strike the flint to create a flame. 
- To refill the lighter you will need to:

Remove the screw at the bottom of the lighter
Remove the cap
Slowly fill from the bottom with lighter fluid (do not use butane)
Allow the cotton to dry several times
Fill until the cotton can not absorb any more lighter fluid
Replace the screw and cap
Make sure the lighter is clean and dry before sparking a flame
